The spread and impact of the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus) in the United States is not yet known, but many nonprofit and philanthropic organizations are taking steps and seeking resources to prepare for and mitigate the effects of the virus on their communities and within their organizations. NY Funders Alliance will continue to share resources we receive from our national partners and government sources in the coming weeks, and we’ve highlighted a few key resources below as a starting point:

Resources for Working Remotely


NY Funders Alliance will remain adaptable to how the COVID-19 epidemic evolves and progresses, and react appropriately with program adjustments and our internal office strategies. Some helpful policies for offices who need to transition to working remotely or from home include the following:

TechSoup: Virtual Workshop (Webinar): Managing the Impact of COVID-19 on Nonprofits

Google Resources: the company recently announced that it’ll be offering free access to premium features in Hangouts Meet for anyone who uses G Suite or G Suite for Education. Specifically, you’ll get three temporary upgrades:

  • Larger meetings, for up to 250 participants per call
  • Live streaming for up to 100,000 viewers within a domain
  • The ability to record meetings and save them to Google Drive

Microsoft Teams: the company is offering a six-month trial for the premium version of Microsoft Teams. Starting March 10, Microsoft will allow as many users as possible to join a Team (using its free version), and everyone on the free version of Teams will be allowed to schedule video calls and conferences.

NY Funders Alliance utilizes Microsoft Teams and Zoom as flexible, travel-friendly conferencing and communication tools.
